Budhlada is a city and a municipal council in Mansa district in the state of Punjab, India. It is located in the Cotton Belt of India and is one of the largest cotton markets in Asia. Most of the population there depends on the agricultural yield in the area.
BUDHA and LADA were two real brothers who were khatri by caste. The village got its name from the names of these two brothers. It was a part of Kaithal state name. The king of the Kaithal state did not help the British during the insurgency of 1857. So the British annexed the kingdom. Later on, it was merged with Karnal District. It was the largest market of East Punjab. It was a very big recruitment centre of military personnel which was second to only to Rohtak in India.
